Food at The Orme Academy

The service is cashless, so that students do not need to carry money with them. Instead, parents can add funds to student accounts using ParentPay (see tab above). (Note: students who qualify for Free School Meals have £2.60 per day credited to their account.) Parents can exercise some control over how their children spend their money by specifying overdraft and total spending limits via their ParentPay account.

The Orme Academy uses cashless catering to purchase food and drinks.  Parents use ParentPay which is an online secure account where you can deposit money online or if you do not have internet access you can request a paypoint card so you can top up your account at local shops that show the paypoint sign.

To access your account online you will have received a letter with your username and password on how to activate your account, you will also need to sign the form for biometrics (available from reception) as to enable students to make a purchase we use a picture of your child's thumb so that it is quick and easy.

Free school meals: If you receive free school meals you still need to activate your account to continue receiving free school meals.

If you are a parent or carer, and receive any of the benefits below, then your child is eligible for Free School Meals.

  • Income Support
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income Related Only Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit with an annual income of less than £16,190
  • The ‘Guarantee’ element of State Pension Credit Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. (In this case, you will need to call one of the numbers below, where you will be asked for more information).

Please note, however, that your children will not qualify if you are receiving Working Tax Credit, regardless of your income.

Applying for Free School Meals

To apply for Free School Meals, please click the link below. You need only fill in one form even if your children attend different schools. It may not be necessary to provide proof of the benefit, which you receive, as your entitlement can be checked by the local authority using the National Free School Meals Eligibility Checking Service. In order that these checks can be made and your claim can be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure that you include your national insurance number and date of birth on the form. You should also note that by signing the form you are giving permission for the service to be used.

If the checking service indicates that you are not entitled to Free School Meals, the local authority will contact you to provide recent written proof of benefit.
